Membership to the European Medical Laser Association (EMLA)

Membership to the European Medical Laser Association (EMLA) is open to all qualified professionals involved in laser technologies in different braches of medicine, biology and related fields who agree with our goals.

The Association comprises the following categories of membership:
○ Individual Member
○ Honorary Member
○ Collective Member
○ Corporate Member
○ Student Member


Individual Member of the Association can be any person over the age of eighteen, provided he/she agrees with the Statutes and Policy of the Association, involved in activities related to theory or practice of laser medicine or related fields, and paying membership fees.

All bank fees must be fully covered by the participant. A copy of the bank transfer must be sent together with the Application Form.

Individual Member of the Association has the following rights:
○ to participate in all events planned or organized by EMLA
○ to be admitted to membership in Standing Boards at his/her own choice, specialty, profession etc.
○ to support his/her national interests through the EMLA Parliament
○ to enjoy support and benefits approved by the Executive Committee ○ to nominate and vote into the bodies of the Association
○ to be elected in the bodies of Association after three years of uninterrupted membership in the Association
○ to raise his/her ideas, proposals and remarks, as well as to participate in person in vote and discussions dealing with his/her proposals.
Individual Member of the Association is entitled to enjoy the following benefits:
○ to enjoy reduced fees for congresses, conferences, and workshops organized or co-organized by the Association, as well as organized by other entities in conjunction with the Association
○ hard printed full color EMLA membership certificate
○ to receive regular EMLA newsletter by the means of electronic mail
○ the privilege to publish in an official EMLA journal one paper, article, study or poster per year for free
○ support with editing scientific articles before their publication (peer review by EMLA experts, language, translation, statistical processing or evaluation, etc.)
○ support in daily activity related to treatment of patients
○ technical, economical, scientific, therapeutic advise in finding optimal equipment
○ other benefits that may be approved or declared by the Executive Committee from time to time

Individual Member of the Association has the following obligations:
○ to acknowledge, accept and abide by the Statutes of the Association, as well as other relevant documents, regulating life and activity of the Association
○ to pay membership fees in the amount and under the conditions approved by the Executive Committee
○ to fulfil all the duties and activities, assigned by bodies of the Association
○ to report to the Executive Committee change in address, contact email, all major professional promotions and other relevant data.

Individual Member of the Association is accepted on the basis of an application, duly filled in and submitted to, and approved by, the Executive Committee.

Honorary Member of the Association is a category reserved for individuals considered to have made an outstanding contribution to laser medicine and related fields or to the Association.

The category of Collective Member is reserved for all relevant national, supranational, international and/or regional institutions, associations, groups and societies taking an active part in the pursuit of science or medicine related to phototherapy. A Collective Member must have more than 20 regular members and must be officially recognized in harmony with relevant legislation in the country of registration.

Corporate Member of the Association is a category reserved for individuals or legal entities developing, manufacturing, servicing and distributing medical equipment, including medicaments, and providing support, or being related in any other way to medical laser technologies.

Student Member of the Association can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student, studying subjects or participating in research in the field or related to Laser Medicine, provided he/she agrees with the Statutes and Policy of the Association, and paying membership fees.
