Past events

14th International Congress of EMLA LASER PRAGUE 2009 was organized in Prague, Czech Republic (20-23 May 2009), as a sister society congress of 10th International Congress of Dermatology.)

For years and years lasers and dermatology, or in other words light and skin have been very close issues. Apart from eye surgery, lasers have been first introduced in dermatological indications. EMLA is an international association of physicians and scientists who study and apply laser in many medical specialties. As the boundaries between surgical high power lasers and low power therapeutic lasers become more and more imperceptible, similar development may be noticed in medical specializations. Introduction of new drugs, devices and technologies give rise to multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. Thus it was quite natural to join dermatology and laser medicine under one roof.
In 2009, our EMLA congress was organized as a sister society meeting of the International Society of Dermatology. The Congress was a large scale meeting, EMLA was a part of a huge meeting of more than 4000 specialists from all over the world. On one hand, our members had an opportunity to participate in all other meetings and to visit really large exhibition of laser industry, however, on the other hand, EMLA and its members were sometimes getting lost in the great conference centre. As some of our members complained, EMLA was not the main star at its own annual congress. Nevertheless, it was a good chance to let people know about us, and a good experience for the future.

The 13th International Congress of EMLA in conjunction with EMLA Finland and MAL (Medical Acupuncture and Laser) and in cooperation with ASLMS (American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery) Laser Helsinki 2008 was organized in Helsinki, Finland (23-24 August 2008).

The 12-th International Congress EMLA in conjunction with the World Association of Laser Therapy (WALT) , ELA (European Laser Association), CSULM-CLS JEP (Czech Society for Use of Laser in Medicine) LASER PRAGUE 2007 (20-22 September 2007) More that 150 laser specialists from 28 countries of Europe and all continents participated at the 12th EMLA Congress Laser Prague 2007. Almost 100 original research and review articles, reflecting variety of laser applications in the medicine and biology, were presented during the congress as oral and poster presentations.
